Cambodia's royalist FUNCINPEC party President, Prince Norodom Ranariddh said Saturday that thereis progress in the political deadlock and hoped that the new government can be formed in mid-June.
"I do not see any deadlock in the negotiations of forming the new government," Prince Norodom Ranariddh told reporters Saturday at the Phnom Penh International Airport.
"I hope that we can create new government in around mid-June, at least the new National Assembly," the prince said.
Prince Norodom Ranariddh said that he and Prime Minister Hun Senwill start the talks on the five remaining difficult points of political platform within next week.
While 68 points of platform out of 73 have been agreed, Prince Norodom Ranariddh and Hun Sen will solve the remaining points of the regular response of prime minister and government officials atthe National Assembly, such as court reforms, the date to create the Ministry of Immigration, border issues and salary increase forcivil servants.
FUNCINPEC proposed 73 points of political platform to the Cambodian People's Party (CPP) when they started talks on forming the new government in March.
Cambodia is still without new government after its National Assembly election on July 27 last year. CPP, won 73 seats out of 123 in the assembly, is seeking partnership with FUNCINPEC when failed to secure the two-third majority to rule by itself.
