font size

Twenty-four South Koreans and Filipinos were rescued after their boats capsized due to strong waves in the southern Philippines, the military said Sunday.

The 24 victims, including seven South Koreans, were rescued on Saturday afternoon by government troops off Agutayan beach, Jasaantown in the province of Misamis Oriental, military public information chief Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Lucero said.

The holiday-going victims were on board four pumpboats when these light sea vessels turned over due to high waves, Lucero said.
