Bridge on Sichuan-Tibet highway broken

A steel bridge on the Sichuan-Tibet highway in Nyingchi County of southwest China's Tibet Autonomous Region was ruptured on Sunday when an overloaded heavy-duty truck passed through the bridge, the regional transport department confirmed in Lhasa Wednesday.

More than 30 motor vehicles in the region were held up. No casualties were reported.

Rescuers rushed to Nyingchi County immediately to repair. The broken bridge has been dismantled and a new bridge will be put up.The traffic is expected to be resumed in three to four days, sources said.
