China backs Egyptian initiative on Palestinian issue

China appreciates and supports the new Egyptian initiative to break deadlock on the Palestinian issue,said Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Jianchao Wednesday.

In response to a question pertaining to the Egyptian initiativeat a routine press conference, Lu said the new Egyptian initiativeplays a positive role in prompting Israel and Palestine to stop violence, resume peace talks and implement the Road Map peace plan.
