Danish Queen Magarethe II on Wednesday met with Wu Bangguo, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress.
Wu briefed the queen on the economic developments in China since 1978 when the country began to introduce the openning-up andreform policy.
The queen said she was pleased to see China's rapid economic developments and wished the country greater success in the future.she said she wanted to see the relations between Denmark and Chinacontinue to grow.
Both the queen and Wu stressed the need to strengthen cultural contacts between the two countries.
Also on Wednesday, Wu met with Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen to discuss ways of expanding bilateral cooperation in various fields.
Wu said there were great opportunities for China and Denmark to promote economic cooperation and both sides should tap their potentials.
He said economic cooperation and trade could help consolidate and upgrade the two countries' relations.
Total trade volume between the two countries reached 2.4 billion US dollars in 2003, an increase of 58.2 percent in comparison with the previous year.
Rasmussen reiterated that Denmark would adhere to the one-China policy. He hailed the great achievements China had made in the past 25 years.
He said Denmark had kept a long history of friendly relations with China, and relations between Denmark and China had developed smoothly in the past recent years.
He said his country would work hard to promote bilateral ties with China in the fields of economy, culture, education, and science and technology.
Wu left Denmark later in the day for Norway to continue his four-nation European tour, which had also taken him to Russia and Bulgaria.
