Two South African peacekeepers were killed after their convoy was ambushed in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, UN officials confirmed Sunday.
Another 11 peacekeepers had been wounded in the shooting, threeof them seriously.
The peacekeepers' platoon was attacked some 10 km north of the eastern Congolese city of Goma, which is on the border with Rwanda.
About 1,200 South African peacekeepers are reportedly deployedin the vast central African country.
