Indonesian court sentences Marriott bomber for 8 years

The Indonesian court on Monday sentenced for eight years in jail Sardono Siliwangi (23), a bomberin the Aug. 5 2003 blast on J.W. Marriott Hotel in Jakarta which killed 12 people and injured 150 others.

The Bengkulu high court verdict is two years lighter than the previous punishment given by Bengkulu state court on Feb. 26, state news agency Antara reported.

The report said Sardona Siliwangi was sent to court for his involvement in the Marriott bombing by carrying explosion material entrusted by Noor Din M Top, a key suspect in the Marriott bombing who is now still in the run.

Sardona also has a role in opening bank account for Noor Din M Top, especially for the use of receiving transfer from foreign countries.
