Two car bombs exploded Tuesday in the northern city of Mosul, killing 10 and injuring 100 people, the US military said.

The first explosion took place outside the city hall building in Mosul at about 9:15 a.m. (5:15 GMT).

The US military helped evacuate the injured. Some of the victims were taken to a military combat support hospital in Mosul.

Parts of human flesh were scattered in the streets and nine vehicles were set ablaze while the building was not damaged.

According to the US military some witnesses said they saw three suicide bombers in an orange and white taxi.

The second explosion took place about 45 minutes later outside a coalition military base. There was no word on casualties.
