Vice Premier calls on geologists to find more mineral resources
font size

Chinese geologists should make all-out efforts to find more mineral resources, so as to alleviate the shortage of mineral supplies, said Vice Premier Zeng Peiyan Monday in Beijing.

Zeng made the call at a conference marking the 100th birthday of Huang Jiqing, a renowned Chinese geologist who was born in 1904 and died in 1995.

Huang established the theory of continental source beds of petroleum together with the theory of polystage reservoir rocks and advocated the search for oil in east China when the famous Daqing and other oil fields were discovered.

"We should try to save resources as well as exploit more land and oceanic resources," Zeng said, noting geologists should make more contributions to the economic development.
