HK, Guangzhou jointly launch business promotion in Seoul

Invest Hong Kong and the Guangzhou Bureau of Foreign Trade and Economic Co-operation (BOFTEC) jointly promoted the investment environment of Hong Kong and Guangzhou in Seoul Tuesday, according to a government press release Tuesday.

Entitled "Your Winning China Strategy: Hong Kong and Guangzhou Investment Environment Seminar," the joint-promotion seminar was designed to introduce the overall investment environment of Hong Kong and Guangzhou to potential South Korean investors and the

benefit of the Chinese mainland/Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement (CEPA) for Korean companies.

This is the third joint overseas activity between Invest Hong Kong and the Guangzhou BOFTEC, following seminars in Tokyo and Frankfurt in 2002 and 2003 respectively.

Director-General of Investment Promotion Mike Rowse gave a keynote speech on the benefits of using Hong Kong as the springboard for tapping into one of the world's fastest growing

economies - Chinese mainland. Rowse explained to the participants how accessing the Pearl River Delta region through Hong Kong could become their winning China strategy.

The Deputy Director-General of Guangzhou BOFTEC also explained the investment environment of Guangzhou and the myriad business opportunities for foreign companies with China's entry into the World Trade Organization.

Invest Hong Kong is the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government department charged with encouraging and facilitating foreign investment into the city by providing all the support needed to establish a business presence here.
