Good organization most impressive, Athens Games Spokesperson

"I love Beijing! People here are wonderful, helpful and friendly", said Kristin Fabos, Official Spokesperson of the Athens Olympic Games, when asked about her first impression on Beijing, June 8.

Ms. Fabos arrived in Beijing on June 6 for her first journey in the city as well as China the country.

Ms. Fabos, who shares the whole global journey with three colleagues, is in charge of the activities in cities such as Sydney, Beijing, Istanbul, Rio de Janeiro, and Stockholm.

Talking about the torch relay to be launched in Beijing on June 9, the spokesperson said that the selection of the route depends on accessibility to public and traffic. She hoped that Beijing's traffic will not be disturbed by the torch relay.

As learned, extra but absolutely original flame is brought along worldwide as back-up for possible emergencies.

Ms. Fabos wished that Athens and Beijing, both ancient cities embracing modernity, will hold successful Olympic Games with their own characteristics. And she also hoped the friendship between the two cities to be promoted.

She also expressed her especial admiration and gratitude for Beijing Organizing Committee for the Games of the 29th Olympiad (BOCOG) for its earlier start in preparation as host in 2008, well-organized team and enthusiasm, which can be a model for future hosts. What impressed her most till now in Beijing, is the full cooperation between the Athens Olympic Committee, BOCOG, and the municipal government of Beijing.

When asked about the security work in Athens, Ms. Fabos said that Athens has made very comprehensive security plans against any challenge and there will be over 45 test events before the formal games.

Excited with the breathtaking Great Wall, the spokesperson hoped to further appreciate the refreshing Beijing during her trip around the city tomorrow, especially the Tian'anmen Square, the Summer Palace and the Forbidden City. She wanted to feel herself the modern tempo of the city with ancient charm.
