Chinese President Hu Jintao arrived in Budapest Thursday for a state visit to Hungary aimed at deepening mutual understanding and promoting bilateral cooperation.
Hu flew in from Krakow, a southern city of Poland, where he ended a state visit, the first by a Chinese president since China and Poland established diplomatic relations 55 years ago.
During his stay in Budapest, the Chinese president will discuss with Hungarian leaders ways to expand cooperation between the two countries in all sectors.
The two countries are expected to sign a series of documents on bilateral cooperation following talks between Hu Jintao and his Hungarian counterpart Madl Ferenc Thursday afternoon.
Hu is scheduled to leave for Romania Saturday to continue his four-nation trip, which also includes Uzbekistan, where he will attend a summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization on June 17.
