Chinese Defense Minister Cao Gangchuan met Friday with a delegation of the General Political Department of the Lao People's Army (LPA), led by its director Chansamone Chanyalath.

Cao, also vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission and state councilor, said that China and Laos, as good neighbors, have enjoyed friendly relations in line with the principles of long-term stability, neighborly friendship, mutual trust and comprehensive cooperation.

The leaders of the two countries have kept frequent visits in recent years, said Cao, adding that China will continue to deepen cooperation with Laos in various fields and push forward friendly cooperation between the two countries and two armies.

Chansamone appreciated China's support and assistance in past years, saying the Laotian side hopes the two countries can further strengthen their exchanges and cooperation in future.
