The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government remains steadfast in upholding Hong Kong's core values, and will continue exchanges with all sectors of the community to promote harmony and stability, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Tung Chee Hwa said Saturday.

Tung made the remarks here while meeting with a group of professionals and intellectuals to hear their views.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Tung said the meeting itself demonstrated the government's commitment in preserving the core values.

Hong Kong people treasure the core values, and the government is determined to work with the public to ensure such values will not be undermined, he added.
