Nation to intensify public security work

A Chinese senior leader recently highlighted the importance of public security, saying a harmoniousand stable social environment is essential to the country's reforms and economic development.

Luo Gan, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, made the remark at a nationalconference on coordinated measures for maintaining law and order, which was held in Hangzhou, the capital city of east China's Zhejiang Province, from Friday to Saturday.

He urged local public security departments to send officials down to the grassroots to help solve problems when they are just burgeoning.

He also listed the ideological and ethical work of minors, prevention of juvenile delinquency, management of migrant population as well as services for disimprisoned people as major tasks of the future public security work.
