Dolce & Gabbana opens flagship store in HKFamous Italian fashion brand Dolce & Gabbana opened its first self-owned flagship store in HongKong on Saturday as a strategic step toward an expansion in Asia. The acting director-general of Investment Promotion at Invest Hong Kong, Mark Michelson, congratulated Dolce Gabbana on the opening of its first shop in Hong Kong. The new shop, with a 650-square-meter space on two floors in the lavish frame of Alexandra House in the downtown Central District, will carry both the ladies and the men's collections, and an important selection of accessories, leather goods, sunglasses and fragrances. In particular, to signify the importance of the company's first store in Hong Kong, the company will sell the brand's newest perfume, Sicily, whose image is Italian actress Monica Bellucci, for one month on an exclusive basis. The company is the unique shareholder of Dolce & Gabbana Industria, which manufactures both clothing and accessories through two sharply modern producing units (one in Legnano, north of Milan, for the ready to wear, the other in Tuscany, for the leather goods). This acquisition has allowed Dolce & Gabbana to bring in-house all the former licenses, including underwear, beachwear, ties, scarves and D & G Junior. From a business point of view, the Hong Kong boutique is surelythe first step toward a greater expansion in the Chinese mainland and other Asian countries. After taking over the operations in Japan in 2001, Dolce & Gabbana is now expanding its potential in highly-performing areas, like Asia Pacific and Russia, said designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbama. Michelson welcomed Dolce & Gabbana's decision to set up its presence in Asia through Hong Kong, which will reinforce Hong Kong's reputation as Asia's leading luxury shopping destination and international style capital. Invest Hong Kong is the Hong Kong Special Administrative Regiongovernment department charged with encouraging and facilitating foreign investment in the city by providing all the support neededto establish a business presence in Hong Kong.
