Russian Nizhegorodov sets 50 km walk world record

Russian Denis Nizhegorodov set a 50km walk world record at the national championships in Cheboksary on Sunday, with a time of three hours 35 minutes 29 seconds.

In a report on its official website on Monday the International Association of Athletics Federations said Nizhegorodov had broken the previous mark of 3:36:03, set by Poland's Robert Korzeniowski on August 27 last year at the Paris world championships.
