Train derailed near Xi'an
A train derailed near a railway station west of Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi Province. The freight train No 19095 went off the tracks around 11:28am near Yangling Railway Station. It cut off the rail route connecting Lanzhou of Gansu Province in Northwest China and the port city of Lianyungang, in eastern Jiangsu Province. Rail transportation returned to normal after a six-hour halt.

Chinese victim workers back home
The coffins containing the bodies of 11 Chinese road workers killed in the terrorist attack in Afghanistan are draped with the Chinese national flags before being taken back to China at the Kabul Airport, Afghanistan, June 14, 2004. The charter plane carrying the bodies of 11 Chinese workers took off from the airport to head for China on Monday, four injured workers took another charter flight back to China 40 minutes later.

Athens Olympic flame in Brazil
120 torch bearers completed the relay in Brazil in nine hours in Brazil, June 13. Famous soccer star Ronaldo ended the torch relay and lit the Olympic flame. Athens Olympic torch relay started from Rio de Janeiro on that day. It was the first time for Olympic flame to arrive in South America.
