The Sichuan-Macao Cooperation Week, which involves investment talks and cultural activities, was launched Wednesday in Macao to kick off an all-round cooperation between Sichuan and Macao under the Pan-Pearl River Delta (PPRD) cooperation framework signed earlier this month.

"Macao is a window for the world to know Sichuan and an important trade partner of Sichuan," said Zhang Zhongwei, governor of China's Sichuan Province at the opening ceremony.

Sichuan is the second member in the PPRD cooperation zone following Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region to hold an investment fair in Macao within this month.

"Sichuan, which has a picturesque scenery, is the hometown of late Chinese leader Deng Xiaoping, whose theory of `one country, two systems' paved the way for Macao's return to the motherland," said Edmund Ho Hau Wah, chief executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR).

Landlocked in southwest China, Sichuan is the largest either in population or in land coverage among the 9+2 PPRD members. It offers the largest consumer market and reserves of natural and human resources in the PPRD region.

The provincial government of Sichuan had selected 390 projects to present at the fair looking for a total investment of 5.8 billion US dollars. Besides investment projects, there will be a ceremony for the naming of two adopted giant pandas, a Sichuan-style temple fair and photo shows during the activity to give Macao residents a full picture of Sichuan.
