Top Chinese legislator Wu Bangguo said Tuesday in Beijing that China attaches importance to its relations with Denmark at a meeting with a delegation from the Foreign Policy Committee of the Danish Parliament led by the committee's Chairman Jens Madsen.

Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress (NPC), said the NPC will further expand exchanges and cooperation with the Danish Parliament at various levels and in different fields.

Recalling his visit to Denmark not long ago, Wu said China and Denmark have no conflicts of fundamental interests and they enjoy high economic complementarity.

The growth of Sino-Danish relations conforms to the common interests of the two countries and their people, noted Wu. He stressed China's views that cultural diversities and development paths chosen by each country should be respected, and the interactions between different cultures have contributed to a diversified world and the progress of human civilization.

Echoing Wu, Madsen said he hoped this visit will further enhance understandings of members of the delegation about China.

Welcoming more Danish parliamentarians to visit China, Wu elaborated on China's stance on the development of relations between China and European Union and the recognition of China's complete market economy status.

Wu also voiced his appreciation for Denmark's one-China policy, and he briefed the visitors on China's achievements and the building of its democratic and legal system.

The delegation is here as guest of the NPC Foreign Affairs Committee, and the Committee's Chairman Jiang Enzhu held talks with the delegation here Tuesday.
