No change on policies encouraging Taiwan investment: minister
font size

Vice Minister of Commerce Ma Xiuhong said in Beijing Wednesday that China's mainland has not altered its polices encouraging Taiwan business people to invest in the mainland and said that their legal interests will be protected by law.

Ma made the remarks at a press conference held by the Information Office of the State Council.

"But, we oppose resolutely any one who promotes 'Taiwan independence' and separatist activities," she said.

Practice in the past years has demonstrated that the central government always encourages compatriots in Taiwan, part of China,to invest in the mainland, Ma said.

For this, special laws had been constituted to invite investment from Taiwan and protect the legal interests of Taiwan businessmen, resulting in fast growth and good returns of Taiwan investment, she said.

Taiwan business people have so far poured 37.8 billion US dollars of investment into the mainland by setting up 62,000 enterprises.
