Chinese tennis made history to have three players in the women's draw for Wimbledon Open, as Sun Tiantian qualified for the third Grand Slam event of the season which gets underway on Monday.

The 111-ranked Sun came through qualifying with a 6-7 (3-7), 7-5, 6-3 victory over Austrian veteran Barbara Schwartz to join fellow Zheng Jie and Peng Shuai in the women's draw.

Zheng, who became the first Chinese player to make the fourth round of a Grand Slam when she reached the round of 16 at the French Open last month, has a tricky opener at Wimbledon, however.

The top Chinese, ranked 48 in the world, was drawn to face double champion and top seed Serena Williams in the first round while the 107-ranked Peng faces Italian 14th seed Silvia Farina Elia.

Sun meets 53-ranked Italian Tathiana Garbin, who was ousted by Zheng Jie at the third round of last month's French Open, and will pair with compatriot Li Ting in the women's doubles matches as they were seeded 12th.

Zheng Jie/Yan Zi are the other Chinese pair who booked a place directly with rankings.

Peng Shuai/Xie Yanze failed to qualify for the women's doubles as they lost 2-1 to an Australian-New Zealander pair. Li Ting, Yan Zi and Xie Yanze from China had also attended the qualifying rounds for Wimbledon women's singles, but failed to make it through.
