Collapsed coal mine resumes production
font size

Production resumed Friday in the Da'anshan Colliery in Fangshan District, 90 kilometers from downtown Beijing, where a mine accident occurred almost two weeks ago.

The mine mishap occurred at 10:30 a.m. of June 6, trapping 10 miners working 3,000 meters underground. The trapped miners were found on June 10 and later died in hospital after failing to respond to medical treatment.

A task force has been formed by the Beijing Municipal Government to look into the case, and the investigation is still going on.

Yu Xinhua, general manager of the Jingmei (Beijing Coal) Group, said that production was suspended in the group's three coal minesof Muchengjian, Changgouyu and Da'anshan, and ground areas on June12 for safety check-ups and straightening things out.

To date, the Muchengjian and Changgouyu coal mines resumed production on Friday, Yu added. All-round production safety check-ups, however, will again be carried out in the three coal mines from next week.

But production has not resumed in the shaft in Da'anshan Coal Mine where the accident took place as relevant investigation is still going on.
