"The earlier talks on three direct links start, the better": Taiwan businessman

The direct transport link between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan is good to Taiwan. Taiwan ought to actively cooperate with the Chinese mainland. "The earlier talks on three direct links start, the better", said Lin Pai-li, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Taiwan Guangda Computer in an exclusive interview on June 15.

Taiwan authorities must treat the cross-Strait relations from an overall perspective. Persisting in self-restraint will make Taiwan lose more opportunities. He thinks Taiwan "badly needs" an earlier realization of direct transport for its economic development. The two sides of the Taiwan Straits and surrounding economic circles are one of the world's economic centers. For Taiwan, the Chinese mainland's robust economic growth is an extremely important business opportunity. Taiwan should not set up limits to itself, because that would incur great restriction on its future economic growth. Active cooperation between Taiwan and the Chinese mainland not only helps the two sides take advantage of each other's strengths, but also makes them become the most competitive and efficient region in the world.

Lin also held that since the culture of the two sides has the same root, if they can cooperate with each other, they would certainly be able to exert their influence on world culture. Those who threaten "desinicization" may consider abandoning chopsticks and having their names changed. Otherwise how are they qualified to talk about "desinicization"? "We are all born descendants of the Chinese nation, why should there be "desinicization"? The Chinese culture evolves through thousands of year. No force on earth can obliterate it. "Culture is culture". It is the common asset of both the Chinese mainland and Taiwan, why should it be removed? Lin asked.
