A total of 133 people were arrested, 68 of them British, in a security operation conducted in the European Championship, an official source said Friday.
The government minister overseeing the event, Jose Luis Arnaut,told the press that most of the apprehensions were made in street disturbances, especially in the streets of south Portugal's Albufeira where 53 British citizens were arrested.
A total of 19 detainees were deported, among them 11 Britons, five Germans, two Dutchs and one Russian.
The Euro 2004 is hosted by Portugal and due to last from June 12 to July 4.
