font size

Indian Defense Minister Pranab Mukherjee Sunday, June 20, asserted that he did not wish to consider China as India's "enemy," saying that his policies would not be clouded by his predecessor's pronouncements.

"I don't have the luxury of using superlative language for any country. We have good relations with our neighbors," Mukherjee said when asked if he agreed with his predecessor George Fernandes' reported assessment that "China is India's enemy no. 1

"Our government has its own policies and our aim is to have good relations with our neighbors," Mukherjee added, making it clear that his government would not take responsibility for comments made by the previous regime.
