Syrian Cultural Week kicks off
Syrian Cultural Week and Syrian Comprehensive Art Exhibition kicks off in Beijing on June 22. Oil paintings, pictures, handicrafts, handwritings and music from Syria are on show. The two countries hope to expand the cultural exchanges. Syrian President Bashar al-Assad is in Beijing for a state visit.

Giant panda Ohama arrives at Beijing International Airport. Ohama,a giant panda born in Japan but of China's nationality, arrived in Beijing in a plane of Japan Airlines on June 21. Ohama will stay in Beijing one night for animal immunity check and then go to Chengdu Giant Panda Breeding Center in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, on June 22 by air.

It is traditionally eaten during the Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month in the Chinese lunar calendar.
