Syrian radio underlines China's role in solving int'l issuesSyria's official Damascus Radio on Monday spoke highly of China's role in solving international issues as President Bashar Al-Assad began his historical visit to China. The radio, in its daily political commentary, underlined China's positive stand over key issues in the Middle East, saying China shares the same goals and interests with Syria over many international issues. China insists to establish a just and comprehensive peace in the Middle East region based on relevant UN resolutions and the land-for-peace principle, and calls for restoration of the occupied Syrian Golan, praised the radio. It urged that the Middle East region and other parts of the world have been passing through a tense situation, which requires continued consultations and coordinations. Syria and China could contribute to the establishment of world peace and stability thanks to their distinguished and central position, the radio said. Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad arrived in Beijing Monday evening on a five-day official visit to China. He is the first Syrian president visits China since the two countries established diplomatic relations in 1956. |
