font size

Indian President A. P. J. Abdul Kalam Tuesday received an unusual package -- an indigenously made gun and a cartridge.

The package was intercepted long before it reached Kalam, but it caused a security scare in the presidential palace, according to the Indo-Asian News Service (IANS).

The parcel was reportedly detected at around 10 a.m.Tuesday when it was being scanned in the X-ray machine and security personnel spotted a pistol shaped image on their computer monitor.

This is the second incident of its kind, IANS said, adding thata year and a half ago, the presidential palace had received live cartridges by mail.
