S.Korean president vows to combat terrorism resolutely
font size

South Korean President Roh Moo-hyun Wednesday strongly condemned terrorism and vowed to combat it resolutely in cooperation with the international community.

In his first public response to the beheading of a South Korean national held hostage by Islamic militants in Iraq, Roh said in a brief televised statement that his government's plan to send additional troops to Iraq will stay on despite the incident.

The 33-year-old Kim Sun-Il was decapitated by militants after Seoul rejected their demands to scrap plans to send more troops to the war-torn country.
