Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing held talks with the visiting Swedish Foreign Minister Laila Freivalds Wednesday.

Li said the two nations have maintained a strong momentum of developing bilateral relations and continue to expand and deepen exchanges and cooperation in all spheres.

China appreciates Sweden's consistent adherence to the one-China policy and is willing to strengthen bilateral cooperation within international organizations including the United Nations, according to Li.

He went on to say that China is willing to properly settle differences beyond ideological divergence and to nurture a virtuous circle for bilateral relations.

Freivalds agreed with Li's comments on bilateral ties and reiterated that Sweden will continue its adherence to the one-China policy.

The Swedish government attaches great importance to developing its relations with China, and is ready to strengthen bilateral cooperation in spheres including politics, trade, culture, science, education, environmental protection and peace-keeping missions, she said.

The two sides also had an in-depth exchange of views on major international and regional issues of common concern.
