The Second China International Exhibition on Police Technologies & Equipment opened at the Beijing Exhibition Center on Wednesday.

About 250 manufacturers from 20 countries and regions came to display their products, including police weapons, police instruments, safety protection products, police vehicles, police communication means, criminal reconnaissance technologies, and police uniforms.

"This is the only and the most authoritative exhibition of its kind in China," said Tian Qiyu, vice minister of public security.

Advanced equipment was a basic guarantee for policemen's sound performance in their duties and growing social demands have brought great commercial opportunities for the police equipment industry, said Tian at Wednesday's opening ceremony.

He pointed out that all countries were focusing more on safety problems and actively promoting anti-terrorism cooperation, which called for higher standards of Chinese police equipment.

The area of the display hall was over 21,000 square meters, doubling the 10,000 square meters of the first, with both the quantity and quality of the products on show being much higher.

Organized by the Ministry of Public Security, China's First International Exhibition on Police Technologies & Equipment was held in Beijing in June 2002. According to the manual of this exhibition, the display was open only to the media and people in the field.
