    PLA art troupe puts up performance in HK

    On June 23, the PlA art troupe gives performance at HK Coliseum to mark the 7th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to the motherland. Noted singer Song Zuying sings "I love China" at the performance.

    "Fahrenheit 9/11"

    Richard Ben-Veniste (2nd R), member of the United States independent investigation committee of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, enters the Uptown Theater for the premiere of "Fahrenheit 9/11" June 24, 2004 in Washington. "Fahrenheit 9/11" is controversial because it is highly critical of US President George W. Bush's handling of the Sept. 11 terror attacks and the launching of the Iraq War. It also reveals the history of political and financial ties between the Bush family and that of al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden.

    The Athens 2004 Olympic Torch Relay was held in Geneva and Lausanne with Switzerland being the 19th international destination for the Torch Relay's global tour.

    Portugal beat England 6-5 on penalties to enter semi-finals

    Beckham on his knees after England was beaten by Portugal in a quarterfinal in Euro 2004. David Beckham missed England's first penalty before Rui Costa missed for Portugal. Portugal keeper Ricardo saved Darius Vassell's kick and Ricardo himself hit the winner.
