Vice-Premier Huang Ju called in Beijing Friday for adopting effective and preventive measures to curb the trend of industrial accidents.

Huang, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee Political Bureau,highlighted the importance of production safety at Friday's State Council meeting on industrial safety.

Achievement has been made in this regard, but some severe industrial accidents still occurred recently and the situation of production safety is still serious, he said.

He ordered to launch a nationwide check on the safety of dangerous and chemical goods, enhance supervision over production safety, and severely punish those responsible for the accidents.
