China, Benin sign economic, technological cooperation accords

China and Benin signed five accords on economic and technological cooperation Friday in the Beninese capital Cotonou.

The accords include an agreement on economic and technological cooperation between the two countries, a framework agreement on providing preferential loans by China to Benin, and an agreement on cooperation between the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Benin.

The signing ceremony was held after the talks between visiting Chinese Vice President Zeng Qinghong and Benin President Mathieu Kerekou, both present at the ceremony.

The Chinese vice president said at the signing ceremony that China and Benin have had fruitful cooperation in economic and trade areas for a long period and the Chinese side is happy to seeits economic assistance provided to Benin played a positive role in Benin's social and economic development.

He said that on the basis of equality, mutual benefit and common development, China is willing to work together with Benin to explore new areas and new means for expanding economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
