Tanzania denies report on deploying soldiers in Congo
font size

Tanzanian Minister of Defense Solomon Sarungi has denied the saying that the country has deployed troops in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to help President Joseph Kabila against rebels.

A press release available here on Sunday said that Tanzania has no plan of sending troops to the DRC for such actions.

In the statement, the minister said that the claims by a Catholic media based in Italy made a groundless propaganda for ruining the fame of Tanzania.

He said that Tanzania never changed its standpoint on solving DRC civil war by peaceful dialogue and sending troops to the DRC can not assist the country in solving its internal issues.

Sarungi also warned local media not to blindly follow the foreign media to damage the country's image.
