Beijing has announced it will set up a special news reporting system covering on-site fires so that such incidents can be reported in the media as soon as possible.
Officials say that the new practice aims to guarantee citizens' rights to information about serious fires, while ensuring the media can provide on-the-spot coverage of these incidents, CRIENGLISH.com reported Monday.
In addition, the authorities will boost fire safety supervision in public venues across the city including theatre, restaurants and hotels.
The capital has seen a large increase in fire-related injuries in the first five months of this year, claiming 41 lives.
