Chinese duo break into 3rd round in Wimbledon
font size

Chinese pair Zheng Jie/Yan Zi has made it to enter the third round at Wimbledon Grand Slam after knocking out a ninth seeded Swiss/Aussie mixed double with 6-4, 4-6 and 6-4.

It's the second time the duo have booked position in the last 16 at Grand Slams after the first time in Australian Open in January.

After the other Chinese pair Sun Tiantian/Li Ting crashed out of the tournament, the two have been the only remaining hope of China in the All England club.

The pair broke early in game one of the first set and clinched the set with 6-4. But they lost the initiative in the second set when their counterpart broke back and revived from a 4-2 down to a 6-4 win.

In the decider, the Chinese rallied, breaking the stalemate first in game three and took the advantage of the chance to notch up the final victory with another 6-4.
