The Chinese People's Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries (CPAFFC) held a reception in Beijing Monday to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Venezuela.
Li Xiaolin, vice-president of the CPAFFC, said that the Sino-Venezuelan relationship has rapidly developed since the two countries established diplomatic ties in 1974. The recent years have witnessed frequent high-level visits which have raised Sino-Venezuelan relations to the strategic level.
The two countries have had broad and effective cooperation in spheres including politics, economy, culture, agriculture, education and technology for decades. They respect, understand and support each other on international issues and complement each other in bilateral trade, Li said, adding that Venezuela is the country that absorbs the most Chinese investment in Latin America.
Enrique Badillo, Venezuelan Charge d'Affaires Ad Interim to China, said that due to the immense potential in bilateral economic cooperation with China, the Venezuelan government attaches great importance to the diplomatic relations of the two countries, and has confidence in its prospects.
China hopes Venezuela will further stabilize the domestic political situation, develop its economy and strengthen international exchanges, Li said, adding that the friendly cooperation relationship of the two countries will grow.
He Luli, vice-chairwoman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress, also attended the reception.
