Kuwait has announced the resumption of diplomatic ties with Iraq.

Kuwait made the announcement on Monday, hours after the Iraqi interim government took over sovereignty from the US-led coalition.

Kuwait will subsequently announce a candidate to be its ambassador to Iraq.
