Tim Montgomery's lawyer said Monday they will demand arbitration of doping charges against the world 100-meter record holder.
"We are contesting the charges and will demand arbitration," said Don Goldberg, a spokesman for the American sprinter's lawyer, Christina Arguedas, in San Francisco.
Montgomery was among four U.S. sprinters charged by the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) with doping violations that could bring lifetime bans.
Under USADA protocol, persons charged with a doping offense may accept a ban or either seek a hearing before an American Arbitration Association panel comprised of North American members of the Court of Arbitration for Sport.
