China appreciates Argentina for its adherence to the one-China policy and support on the issues concerning Taiwan and human rights, said Chinese top legislator Wu Bangguo Tuesday.

Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People's Congress, told visiting Argentine President Nestor Kirchner that China will make joint efforts with Argentina to expand cooperation in economic, cultural, educational and scientific sectors.

China and Argentina trust each other and have reciprocal economies, Wu said, noting the bilateral trade is large in scale and there is huge potential for further trade and investment.

The two countries' exchange and cooperation in all aspects promoted the comprehensive partnership, Wu said.

The exchange and cooperation between Sino-Argentina legislatures is key component of bilateral ties and contributes to mutual trust and friendship, Wu acknowledged, adding that the NPC is willing to further exchange with the Argentine counterpart to fuel bilateral ties.

Kirchner said Argentina will cooperate with China to enhance economic cooperation in all sectors and at all levels.

The agreements signed last Monday forged the basis for such cooperation, the president said, adding that he strongly believe Argentina-China relations will be pushed forward.

Argentina and China share many common views on international affairs and Argentina agrees with China on a multi-polar world, he said, noting Argentina appreciates China for its support on the South American Common Market.

Kirchner reiterated Argentina's support for Chinese government on the Taiwan issue, saying that Argentina appreciates China for its support on Argentina's claim on the Malvinas Islands.
