font size

Fifth seed Lindsay Davenport entered the Wimbledon semifinal, beating Croatian teenager Karolina Sprem 6-2, 6-2 on June 29.

Sprem, who toppled Venus Williams in the second round, found the 1999 champion too tough to handle in her first grand slam quarter-final.

Davenport broke in the first game, secured her first set in 20 minutes with her strong groundstrokes.

The American then disposed her 19-year-old opponent to seal herfourth appearance in the last four at Wimbledon where she will face either Japan's Ai Sugiyama or Russian 17-year-old Maria Sharapova.
