Rising Chinese star Liu Xiang carried on his excellent form this season to grab the men's 110m hurdle title at the Grand Prix race Tuesday in Zagreb.

Following his victory at the Lille international athletics meeting Saturday, the 20-year-old Liu, who was quickest off the blocks, raced to victory in 13.25 seconds after three false starts disqualified Redelen dos Santos of Brazil and Duane Ross of the United States from the marquee event.

Latvian Stanislav Olijars, who was making his Grand Prix debut this season, finished second in 13.46, while Bulgarian Zhivko Videnov wound up third in 14.06.

Compatriots Abdul Aziz Zakari and Vida Anim won the men's and women's 100 meters respectively to give Ghana the blue-ribbon sprints.

Zakari, who was second at a meet in Gateshead, England, on Sunday, relished the perfect conditions to win in 10.18 seconds.

Japan's Shingo Suetsugu was second followed by Britain's Darren Campbell, who went on to win the 200.

World indoor champion Jason Gardener, who was coming back from a hernia operation, also improved his result at Gateshead, moving up two places to finish fourth.

Anim edged Ukraine's Marina Maydanova in a women's photo finish in 11.37.

Two-time world champion high jumper, South African Hestrie Cloete, posted a season-best leap of two meters to win against local favorite Blanka Vlasic.

Jamie Baulch of Britain won the men's 400-meter hurdles in 46.43 seconds.

Bulgarian Nikolai Atanasov took the long jump, clearing 8.01 meters.

In the women's 400-meter hurdles, world champion Australian Jana Pittman took an early lead and won comfortably in 54.15 seconds.

Russia's Olga Kuzenkova, European champion and Olympic silver medalist, won the women's hammer throw with an impressive 71.91 meters.
