China to join hands with Pakistani new government to promote bilateral ties

China will make joint efforts with the Pakistani new government to promote the Sino-Pakistani comprehensive cooperative relations, said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Zhang Qiyue Thursday.

Zhang said at a regular press conference that China and Pakistan traditionally enjoyed friendship and shared all-weather friendly cooperation.

The good neighborly friendship between China and Pakistan had seen continuous development since the two sides established diplomatic relations in 1951, she added.

The Chinese side was willing to join hands with the Pakistani new government to push forward the bilateral relations on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence, Zhang said.

Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain was elected prime minister Tuesday by the Pakistani National Assembly. He replaced Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali after his predecessor resigned last Saturday.
