Guangzhou of China won the hosting right for the 2010 Asian Games, announced Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah, president of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) during its 23rd session in Doha on June 1.
China State Council hails successful bid for 2010 Asiad
Chinese state councilor Chen Zhili, on behalf of the State Council, sent a telegram on July 1 to congratulate the Chinese Asian Games bidding delegation for its successful bid for the hosting right of 2010 Asian Games.

Gladly knowing that China has won the hosting right for the 2010 Asian Games at the 23rd session of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), I, on behalf of the State Council, extend my warm congratulation to you and sincere greetings to all members of the bidding delegation as well as all people involved in the bidding campaign.
Asian Games is a great gathering to strengthen sports exchanges among Asian countries and regions, and to promote peace and development in the world. The 2010 Asian Games in Guangzhou will help the world understand China and help China open further to the world, as it will provide new impetuses in our open-door policies and modernization campaign, and new opportunities to quickly achieve the goal of ensuring our people of a fairly comfortable life.
And I hope people spare no efforts in their preparations and learn from other hosting countries for a great successful Asian Games in 2010.
