Chinese Foreign Minister Li Zhaoxing attended the informal dialogues between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations(ASEAN) and its dialogue partners Thursday in Jakarta.

They discussed issues including the proposed ASEAN Community, ASEAN-G8 relationship, Iraqi situation, conflicts in the Middle East, international cooperation against terrorism, and economic cooperation among the nations.

Earlier in the day, Li and foreign ministers from other ASEAN dialogue partners made a courtesy call on Indonesian President Megawati Soekarnoputri.

Li conveyed to her warm greetings from Chinese President Hu Jintao. Megawati said Indonesia cherishes its friendship with Chinese leaders, is willing to continue strengthening cooperation with China in the areas of economy and trade, and energy.

Also, Li met separately with his counterparts from Russia, the European Union, Australia, New Zealand, Canada and South Korea.

Meeting for the fourth time, Li and Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov agreed that the frequent exchanges of views between the leaders of the two countries and coordination of their position have strengthened the relations between China and Russia.

The year 2004 is the 55th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations. China and Russia will make various preparations for the high-level mutual visits in the second half of this year to push forward the strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries.

Meeting Javier Solana and Chris Patten of the European Union, Li expressed China's support for the integration process of the union and hope that it will consciously handle and solve concerned issues from the Chinese side.

At the meetings, the foreign ministers reiterated clearly their one-China position.
