    Chinese laborers demand Tokyo's apology

    A group of 41 Chinese surviving laborers and family members of the dead demanded Friday that the Japanese government apologize and compensate for Japan's deadly cruelty during their hard labor days in World War II.

    First Farmers' Festival in NW China

    Imperial Palace of the Qing Dynasty insribed on World Heritage Lis

    The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Committee on Thursday inscribed 16 sites on the World Heritage List, including one new site and two extensions from China. The Imperial Palace of the Qing Dynasty in Shenyang was included in the list as an extension of the Imperial Palace of the Ming and Qing dynasties in Beijing, capital of China, which was inscribed on the list in 1987.

    Athens Olympic flame in Helsinki

    Famous men's 5000-meter champion in 1972 and 1976 Olympics starts the torch relay in Helsinki on July 2. The Olympic flame was passed from Stockholm, Sweden to Helsinki on that day. 120 people participate the 51.5-kilometer-long torch relay there.

    Unexploded missile found at Chinese Embassy to former Yugoslavia

    Missile fragments unearthed from the Chinese Embassy to former Yugoslavia in Belgrade. Defense Minister of Serbia and Montenegro Prvoslav Davinic said on July 1 that an unexploded missile has been dug out from the ruins of the Chinese Embassy. At midnight May 7, 1999, the NATO led by the United States launched a missile attack on the Chinese Embassy, with five missiles hitting the embassy, leaving three Chinese reporters dead, more than 20 diplomats wounded and the embassy building devastated. One of the missiles did not exploded.
