Another Afghan prisoner has alleged the US military in Afghanistan for abuse and mistreatment, said the US military here on Saturday.
"This week the coalition reviewed a new allegation of detainee abuse occurring within its area of responsibility," military spokesman Jon Siepmann told reporters.
He declined to give more details but added, "The Naval CriminalInvestigation Service is looking into the allegation."
This is the 5th time that Afghans in US army custody alleged that their jailers had abused them.
Earlier, a former police Colonel Syed Nabi Sidique alleged thathe was badly beaten, stripped naked and photographed by the US soldiers at their detention center in Gardiz last year.
According to local press reports, three Afghan detainees have died during investigation at the US holding facilities since 2002.
The reports, which triggered outrage among the Afghans, prompted human rights organizations including Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission (AIHRC) to seek permission foraccess to US detention centers.
The US army is yet to accept any request from the rights entities but said the International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) is the only recognized organization that could have access to the detainees.
Over 300 Afghans have been languishing in 22 US holding facilities in post-war Afghanistan.
