Harsh blow to pornographic bookstores near campus
font size

As the summer holiday draws near, the Beijing municipal government has launched an action to clear out pornography from bookstores near campus.

The law enforcement staff of the Municipal Administration of Press and Publication started the action in a bookstore selling cartoon books. Earlier investigations showed that the bookstore sells pornographic cartoons.

Within 300 meters from the bookstore are a primary school and aiddle school. "The bookstore was opened not long ago, but it has many customers from the nearby schools," said a local resident.

The week-long action is aimed to clean places selling illegal publications.

"We will try our best to build a healthy environment for young people," said Sun Xiangdong, director of the Beijing Administration of Press and Publication.
